Description
Product Overview
The Dedicated Recirc System converts a hot water circulation line into an efficient on-demand delivery system.
The Dedicated Recirc System delivers hot water only when there is a demand:
- Reducing Energy Costs &
- Virtually Eliminating Pinhole Leaks
When the Flow Monitor detects a hot water demand the Pump Manager turns on the pump and rushes water out to where it is needed.
The Pump Manager will run the pump for approximately 1 to 2 minutes to ensure that hot water is available throughout your home. Adjustable from 1 minute to 60 minutes.

Installation
Step 1. Choose the location of the pump:
The circulation pump can be installed in either the cold water feed or the hot water out from the water heater. Ease of installation is the only consideration when making your decision.
Step 2. Turn off water heater:
Turn off water heater to make sure it does not come on during installation.
Step 3. Turn off water:
Turn off the water to the water heater. In most cases there is a valve located near the water heater on the cold water supply line.
Step 4. Drain the hot water lines:
Turn on any hot water faucet in the house and let it run until the water stops flowing. Leave the faucet on for the duration of the installation. Drain remaining hot water using the hot water spigot on the water heater.
Note: If water continues to flow, check to make sure that the water has been completely turned off. If the valve does not shut off the water flow completely turn off the valve supplying water to the house or at the water meter.
Step 5. Cut the water line where the pump is to be installed:
Remove a section of pipe equivalent to the length of the pump and Flow Monitor assembled plus any extra length for required fittings.
Step 6. Orientation of pump and Flow Monitor:
Make sure the arrows on the pump and Flow Monitor are pointing in the direction of flow.
Step 7. Install pump:
Correct installation of the pump can be either horizontal or vertical. Use proper straps for support if necessary.
Step 8. Install the Flow Monitor:
The Flow Monitor must be installed outside the loop. Please see the diagram above for proper location. If the Flow Monitor is installed within the loop the pump will run continuously.
Insert 1 washer in the female end of the Flow Monitor (2 are provided). Install Flow Monitor in the cold water line outside the loop using the appropriate fittings (not provided).
See instructions for setting up the Pump Manager below for Flow Monitor wiring instructions.
Step 9. Complete connections and turn on water:
Make sure that a hot water faucet is turned on in the house and then slowly turn the water back on to the water heater. Check for leaks and repair as necessary. Leave the water running until all of the air has been purged from the water pipes. Turn off the faucet.
Step 10. Connect the Pump Manager and the Flow Monitor:
There are 2 toggle/rocker switches that controls the speed of the pump and how it works. The first switch is located in the power cord.
Note: No wires are connected to the rocker switch in the Dedicated Recirc System – Tankless. The system will not work properly if the switch is in the Auto position.
Set pump toggle switch to III (3 bars) setting for the highest speed.
Step 11. Install the Pump Manager:
Choose a location for the Pump Manager. Attach the 2 wires from the Pump Manager (red and black) to the 2 wires from the Flow Monitor (blue and brown). The color of the wires do not matter (low voltage AC).
Plug the pump into the Pump Manager and plug the Pump Manager into a 110/120 vAC properly grounded outlet.
Step 12: Test Dedicated Recirc System:
Turn on any hot water faucet in the house for 1 second and turn it off. Pump should continue to operate for approximately 1 to 2 minutes after the faucet has been turned off.
Note: The off-delay timer will not start until all demand for hot water has ended.
Electrical Information
Safety Warning
Risk of Electrical Shock
This pump is supplied with a grounding conductor. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, be certain that it is connected only to a properly grounded grounding type receptacle.
The safe operation of this pump requires that it be grounded in accordance with the national Electrical Code and local government regulations.
Operating Instructions
To activate the Dedicated Recirc System, simply turn on any hot water faucet in the house and quickly turn it off.
This will start the pump which will run for approximately 60 seconds. Typically it takes about 10 to 15 seconds to heat up the entire circulation line. Once the line is hot you will have hot water everywhere you want it.
The pump will shutoff approximately 60 seconds after the demand for hot water ends.
Installation Notes:
The Dedicated Recirc System can be used with both tank style water heaters and tankless water heaters. These instructions are for installation on a tankless water heater. Please refer to the appropriate manual for tank style installations.
A portion of the Dedicated Recirc System is installed in the cold water line in or the hot water line out of a tankless water heater. Failure to follow these instructions may lead to system failure and/or property damage. Although a plumber is not required to install the system familiarity with basic plumbing is necessary.
